Travel and Lifestyle Gallery

Hi everyone! I know it’s late (or early depending on how you look at it) but I just wanted to let everyone know that I’ve added another gallery to my portfolio. Have a look and let me know which ones you like or maybe you’ve even been to some of these places. I’ll keep adding to the gallery so make sure to drop by every now and then. Click here to see the newest gallery!

Just in case you didn’t know, you can now use your Facebook credentials to login and leave comments on the site. How cool is that? Check it out here and read more about it.

on the fence?

Hi everyone! I thought I would just do a little shout out for ProPhoto Blogs. If you remember, a few months ago, I talked about my move from a static site to a blog site. My decision paid off. Armed with the information I gathered from Google Analytics, I’ve noticed a great increase in traffic which is exactly what I was aiming for when I made the switch. I do have to let you know that I had no background in blogging except for a few months using Blogger. I don’t know how to code in either HTML or CSS. I don’t even really know what exactly they mean or do. I’m a photographer not a website guru. I needed some way to show my work without laboring on the details on how to format or show it. I needed something simple – drag and drop. I also needed something that is easily customizable. For me, the less time I spent messing around with the website, the more time I have taking pictures.

For me, using the ProPhoto template and SmugMug for my proofing galleries is a match made in heaven. I have the best of both worlds. SmugMug can be customized to look like my blog site and vice versa. The transition between the two sites is seamless and at times, the client doesn’t even realize they’ve been transported to a different site. If you were also interested in a SmugMug gallery, you can use my referral code as well. Simply enter my email address ( info@photosbyrikki.com ) or you can use this personal coupon code (hwy9kf43g3w7g ) in the Email / Coupon field of the signup form.

Needless to say, this partnership between the two sites is PERFECT!

So how did I get here? Our photographer, Joey Reyna, has a ProPhoto site which, when I saw it, made me want to switch. They make it so easy. What was even better was their 110% guarantee. If I wasn’t happy, they would give me a full refund plus the extra 10% for your trouble. It was a win-win situation in my opinion. ProPhoto is a theme for WordPress – the most powerful blogging software out there today. I highly recommend the templates and it’ll be the best $189 you’ll spend. On top of that, their customer support and Facebook Fan page are top notch. You’ll often find me there answering other people’s inquiries from time to time. I have to admit that I’ve become a novice user to a full on customizer in a matter of days. I think if I can do it, anyone can do it. My wife Melissa has even gotten to start her blog that she’s been wanting to create for some time now. All thanks to ProPhoto. So how easy is it to customize? It’s a snap. I can show you multiple sites using the ProPhoto themes and no two are alike. This was another reason why I made the switch. Customization was a very important factor in my decision to switch. So what do you think? Still on the fence? To help you with your decision, ProPhoto had just extended me a coupon code that I can pass on to you if you’re interested in purchasing their templates. Use coupon code: RIKDYL386 and receive $10 off. Every little penny helps right? If you have any questions about ProPhoto, I’m here to help (and Yes. I can confidently say that I can help you). Thanks!

I also have some tips and tutorials here.

tell your friends about us!

Hi all! First of all, THANK YOU! It’s been a big hit since the launch of the rebranded website and we still want you to tell your friends you’ve enjoyed our posts, news, reviews, and the overall experience of working with us. If you think someone would be interested in our work, let them know. We want the word to get out so here’s the idea.

Encourage three of your friends to be a fan on Facebook.  Once they’ve joined the Facebook fan page, have them visit this website, click on Contact and simply use Referral Code SPRING. Your friends must include your name as the person who referred them to the site.

Our tracking system allows us to know once we have three referrals from you. Once you do, your name will be entered in the contest for a chance to win an 11×14 print. Like our previous giveaways, this offer won’t be around for long so it’s best to hurry.

You’ve got until 10pm PST on Sunday April 18th

subscribe to comments

Hello again! Here’s another quick tip. You can now subscribe to comments for any current or future posts and galleries. Now you might ask, “why should I subscribe to comments?” By subscribing to comments, you can follow your favorite posts and galleries. Take for instance, I might have a post that talks about how I use Adobe Lightroom in my workflow, and you leave a comment. There is a small radio button that allows you to toggle it and enter your email address to be informed of any other comments that are left for my workflow post.

We all hate SPAM so the developers have made certain that this is not “checked” by default. Try it out and let me know what you think. And thanks to those who had made this request. While I might not be able to accommodate everyone’s request, I’ll try to make the user experience as smooth and efficient as possible.

Ciao!
