Now this is definitely one of the coolest things I’ve seen today. Eirik Solheim created a timelapse image taken from his window of the same spot for an entire year. The beauty of this project is that he used a script that took a vertical stripe of each image and composited everything to form one singular image. The result is pretty spectacular.
The resolution of the 16 000 images I now have from 2010 are 3888×2592 pixels. So I selected 3888 images snapped during the day. Then I got some generous help from my blog readers and twitter followers. To make a script that would take one line from the first image, the next line from the next image and so on. Jo Christian Oterhals, Nikolai Kristiansen and Aslak Hellesøyprovided complete code for the solution.
Eirik has also now posted the full 3888 resolution image on Flickr. Go check it out!
