To Infinity and Beyond

Yesterday morning was a momentous day for everyone. July 8, 2011 marked the final launch of the shuttle space program. With Atlantis’ departure yesterday morning, it ends NASA’s 30 year space program. I still remember when I first saw a shuttle launch. I was a freshman in high school and I saw the shuttle Challenger leave for orbit. I also witnessed, with millions of other people, the demise of the Challenger and her crew in 1986. In 2003, I turned on the television only to see the shuttle Columbia suffer the same fate.

As I watched a live feed of the yesterday’s launch, I was filled with mixed emotions and “I still get goose bumps” every time I see a shuttle launch. Thank you brave men and women who helped with NASA’s space program.
